Warren H. Wagner, Jr., appointed Assistant Professor of Botany.

Edward Voss, under a faculty research grant from the University’s graduate school, begins the Michigan Flora project.
1959
Mycologist Alexander H. Smith appointed Director of the Herbarium.
1960
Herbarium moves to the North University Building
1965
Howard Crum appointed associate professor of botany and curator of bryophytes
1972
Rogers McVaugh appointed Director. Ed Voss publishes volume I of the Michigan Flora series.
1975
William C. Steere (U-M Ph.D. Botany 1932, former Director UM Botany) with Emperor Hirohito of Japan at the New York Botanical Garden.
1986
William R. Anderson appointed Director.
2002
Herbarium moves to the Varsity Drive Complex.
2005
Paul E. Berry appointed Professor and Director.
