P. Rogers, Research Museum Collection Manager The University of Michigan Herbarium houses ca. 290,000 specimens of fungi, including 6,517 types. The holdings are particularly strong in North American higher fungi. Important collections include those of D. Baxter, R. Fogel, C. H. Kauffman, E. B. Mains, R. L. Shaffer, A. H. Smith, and F. K. Sparrow. Several historically or geographically important collections, originally in private hands, are also incorporated, including those of H. A. Kelly and E. Trueblood, and the Wells-Kempton Herbarium.
